In a world where movie projectors have become scarce and film slowly succumbs to the ravages of time, we’re here to save your memories from obscurity.
By directly scanning each frame, we ensure the highest quality transfer possible. The result? Your home movies, be they 8mm, Super 8mm, or 16mm, will not only survive but thrive in the 21st century. Film size can be identified by its width. Standard 8mm film measures 8 millimeters wide, Super 8mm film is slightly smaller at 7.5 millimeters while 16mm film is, as the name suggests, 16 millimeters wide. If you’re uncertain about your film size, don’t worry; we can help you identify it during the transfer process.
Bringing your home movie films into the 21st century means embracing the convenience of digital formats. Instead of relying on aging projectors and roll-up movie screens, opt for a film transfer to preserve your old home movies. We’ll transform your 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm films into digital DVDs, Blu-rays, or digital files. Not only will you enjoy better picture quality, but you’ll also have the flexibility to view and share your memories on modern devices, ensuring they endure for generations to come.

Calculating the cost of your film transfer is a straightforward process at Patchin Pictures. We break down our pricing into two essential components to ensure transparency and accuracy:
The pricing for this stage is determined by the size of your film reel. Whether you have a 50-foot, 100-foot, 200-foot, 400-foot, or even larger up to 1,600-foot film reel, we offer competitive pricing that aligns with the scope of your project.
This phase of the pricing is based on your specific requirements. We offer options for creating DVDs, video file formats, Blu-ray, or both, based on your preference. The cost is determined by the number of DVD discs required and the length of the video content transferred from your film.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 702-240-6777. We’re here to provide you with a detailed quote and answer any questions you may have. Your precious memories are priceless, and we’re dedicated to making the film transfer process transparent and accessible for you.
While movie film remains a timeless format for recording moving images, it’s not always practical to set up a movie screen and projector to watch home movies reel by reel. At Patchin Pictures, we understand the value of film, and that’s why we offer a solution that preserves the magic of movie film while enhancing the viewing experience. Our proprietary film transfer system directly scans the frames of your film, ensuring high-resolution transfers to digital media. The result? Brighter and more enjoyable images on DVD, even though movie film boasts higher resolution than any video format.
Preserving your 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm home movie films is essential to protect them from potential damage over time. At Patchin Pictures, we’ve witnessed various issues with people’s celluloid movies, from heat and water damage to brittleness and fungus damage. To safeguard your memories, transfer your film to DVD while they’re still in good condition and can be played on a projector. Trust Patchin Pictures to bring your film into the digital era.
We take pride in handling all transfers right here at our studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Whether you have movie film or video tapes, we offer comprehensive transfer services. Please note that film and video tape transfers have different pricing structures. For film transfers to DVD, consult our film transfer price calculator. If you’re looking to transfer video tapes to DVD, including various formats like VHS, VHS-C, and more, visit our video transfer page at [Link to Video Transfer Page].
Regular 8mm movie film typically does not include audio recording, while Super 8mm film has the potential for sound. At Patchin Pictures, we transfer Super 8 film with or without sound. However, please note that the pricing for transfers with sound will differ.
Early sound recording for movie film involved optical recording, where sound waves were visually recorded on the film as lines. Later, magnetic audio and digital recording methods became prevalent. Although your home movie films may not have digital audio, they may feature optical or magnetic audio, both of which Patchin Pictures can transfer to DVD or other video file formats.
